World Series of Yahtzee Board Game - Review

Disclosure: I received this product at no charge in exchange for my honest review.
My family loves to play Yahtzee and we were thrilled to discover the World Series of Yahtzee Board Game. Designed for 2-4 players, this game combines luck, speed, and even flashing lights. Everyone rolls at the same time to try to score the high card. The player with the highest total on cards wins!
My husband and my son set up the game and spent at least an hour playing together and laughing together. Nothing makes my heart happier than to hear my family enjoying time with each other. Hasbro Game Night knows how important together time can be and all their games are geared towards quality time.
At a child development conference, I once heard that the majority of people in prison never played a board game with their parents. That is an amazing statistic because playing a board game teaches children to wait their turns, follow the rules, think things through and use strategy to be successful.
It also teaches them that they cannot always win; providing a teaching moment on how to deal with disappointment and defeat. Time together is so very important! Learning to relate to others through games like World Series of Yahtzee and other Hasbro games is a fun way to impart to your values to your kids.
As much as I love traditional Yahtzee, I think I like this one better because it's a fast paced race and it really adds a sense of urgency and excitement to the game. It's very-well designed from high-quality materials and will last through many family game nights.
You can buy Hasbro games at retailers nationwide and although this game is for older kids, you can find dozens of family board games for your children regardless of their age. You can also follow Hasbro Game Night on Facebook and Twitter.
My kids will go off to college this fall and I will always cherish the family times we spent together. I hope as they head into the world, they will take what they've learned from us and apply it to their own adult lives. I'm guessing they'll probably take some of our games from us when they go too!

Spring Fashions at Dollar General

This post brought to you by Dollar General. All opinions are 100% mine.
Dollar General is one of my favorite places to get a great deal on cleaning products, crafts, home decor and food staples. This Spring I'll also be shopping there for some new clothes for my entire family. They have clothing for men, women, children and babies at affordable prices that will make you smile. Check out the Dollar General Apparel Book and see all the fashions and accessories they have to offer!
I love their huge selection of ladies' springtime dresses and their unbeatable price points. With all the money I will be saving, I can add a bunch of new spring hats to my new wardrobe, plus pick up some matching and contrasting bangle bracelets to accessorize. My husband and my teenage boys are always in need of new shirts and shorts this time of year because they are working so hard outside in the yard to freshen up our home.
The colors of spring are reflected in Dollar General's clothing lines and the weather has been perfect here in Texas for their capri leggings and pretty fashion tops, both sleeveless and short-sleeves. Since my boys graduate this spring, we will be hosting lots of guests at our home for parties and family visits and I'm excited to model some of my new outfits. Capri leggings are always comfortable to wear in the car for our spring road trips around Texas too. The more money I save on clothing, the more fun we can have together. Installing Carpet Tile

I recently carpeted a basement family room. I was talked into using carpet tile because I could do the job myself. The job was pretty easy and the final look is great.

Installing carpet tiles is a much easier do-it-yourself job than stretch-in installation, as long as you follow the correct procedure. This type of carpet is installed piece by piece, so finding the starting point is perhaps the most difficult part. Once you get started, this job will go by very quickly and you will have your new carpet ready to use in no time at all.

Find the Center of the Room
Use a chalk-box to snap a line at the midpoint of the opposing walls in the room. You will begin the installation at the center of the room and then work towards the outside. Once you find the midpoint between both sets of walls, the lines will intersect in the center of the room.

Square Your Lines
Before you begin the installation, make sure that the lines are squared. Measure four feet out from the center point on one line and three feet out on the other line. The two marks should be five feet apart for your lines to be squared. If they are not, make the necessary adjustments.

Equal the Edges
Make sure that the tile closest to the wall will be at least half a tile wide. Do this by laying out tiles towards the wall and then stopping when you cannot fit an entire tile between the last tile and the wall. You can then adjust the tiles so that you have room for half a tile on each side. This ensures that both sides are even.

Start Laying Tiles
Begin by laying the center tiles. Put one tile in each quadrant of the center of the room. You will then build out from the square that you have formed. Once the first square has been completed, you can move onto the second and third squares. Continue forming squares until you get close to the wall.

Trim the Tiles to Fit
The tiles that border the walls will have to be trimmed, unless your room is perfectly shaped for these tiles. Measure the area between the last tile and the wall and draw a matching line on the back of the tile. Continue this process until every space has been filled.

Roll Your Floor
Use a 75-pound roller to press the adhesive down and keep the tiles in place permanently.

Orange Oil Termite Treatment Review

I recently had to deal with a termite problem in my home. I wasn’t thrilled about using chemicals or tenting my house but knew I had to do something. My home was a big investment that I want to keep for a long time. So, before calling in the exterminators, I wanted to consider other methods of getting rid of termites. So I did what I like to do, research.

Fumigators once used Vikane -- also known as sulfuryl fluoride -- and the poisonous gas require that the house be completed tented and evacuated. These gases will damage your lungs. Even once the fumigation is done, the gas can stay in the atmosphere for at least 30 years causing damage to the environment.

Orange oil is a new method of fumigation, and it's one that has been proven to be quite effective. Many orange oil solutions are used for spot treatments, but there are one or two -- Citruguard and XT2000 -- that can be quite effective at dealing with termite problems in the whole house.

The best thing about orange oil is that it works just like the Vikane, but it's a lot safer. It will kill off all the termites, but it won't fill your home with poisons. It is injected directly into the wood, where it kills the bugs and leaves your home termite-free. There is no need to move out while the infestation is being dealt with, but you can still enjoy the comfort of your home while the orange oil does the work.

This orange oil solution is very strong and is best applied by a professional. It’s been six months and a follow-up inspection gave the house a clean bill of health, at least from termites.
