I was recently invited to a blogger event at the Austin
Schlotzsky's to try out their new "Viva l’Italia"
Italian Menu. It includes four Oven-Baked Pastas, three specialty sandwiches on artisan Ciabatta bread, Gourmet Spicy Chicken Alfredo Pizza, and Italian Chopped Salad. Besides eating way more than I should have eaten, I got to meet several of the company executives and chefs. Look at all these delicious Italian choices!
The delicious Italian Chopped Salad includes chopped romaine lettuce, shredded ham, pepperoni, cotto and genoa salami, mozzarella and parmesan cheeses, red onions, olive tapenade and diced tomatoes, tossed with a robust Italian dressing.
As a pizza lover, I was delighted with the Chicken Alfredo Gourmet
Pizza! It's made with hand-carved grilled chicken, Italian sausage, bacon, mozzarella, Parmesan cheeses, and roasted red peppers. I could have easily eaten more pizza, but next up we tried their incredible specialty sandwiches on artisan Ciabatta bread.
The Sicilian is shaved ham, sharp provolone cheese, pepperoni, Cotto and Genoa salami, roasted red bell pepper, balsamic onions, olives and pepperoncini, field greens, and Roma tomato. The Tuscan is hand-carved roasted turkey breast, melted pepper jack cheese, Roma tomato, field greens, bacon, cilantro and chipotle aioli, and fresh avocado. They also offer a vegetarian sandwich called The Caprese, which has shredded mozzarella cheese, roasted tomatoes, mayo, field greens, tomatoes, balsamic onions, basil pesto, and a balsamic glaze.
Then we tried the scrumptious new
oven-baked pastas. The Tomato-Basil Canestrelli is a vegetarian dish with canestrelli pasta, tomato basil sauce, mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese.
The Bayo Chicken oven-baked pasta is canestrelli pasta in a basil cream sauce, sweet bell peppers, hand-carved chicken breast, Italian sausage and applewood smoked bacon.
The Chicken Pesto Carbonara is canestrelli pasta with basic cream sauce, roasted tomato, red bell pepper, chicken breast, and applewood smoked bacon.
Their vegetarian oven-baked pasta is the Sausage and Peppers with Goat Cheese Pasta, which features canestrelli pasta, tomato basil sauce, Italian sausaged, bell pepper, and goat cheese. All four pastas were amazing, but my favorite one of the four is the Bayou Chicken.
We also enjoyed Schlotzsky's Garlic Bread Sticks with cheeses and some delectable desserts with coffee. I tried their Creamy Cheesecake, but I was so full I couldn't even finish it.
After trying all the new
Schlotzsky's Italian Menu items, I've decided
The Tuscan Ciabatta Specialty Sandwich is my favorite item!
